Amber brings her picture book, An Algonquin Heart Song: Paddle My Own Canoe, to elementary school children through an exciting and interactive visiting author program. 

Her full-day elementary school visit program consists of two presentations, each tailored to specific grade levels.  She can do up to 5 presentations per day and requires an LCD projector for a PowerPoint slide presentation.

Grades K-2:  Focus on canoeing adventures.  She brings life jackets, paddles, and other equipment for hands-on fun and shares the book as it relates to wilderness camping. 30 minutes.

Grades 3-5:  Focus on the birth of a book.  Stories don’t spring from thin air.  Many different sources influence the creation of a story.  Amber shares the process of writing and publishing this book and leaves students with a writing challenge of their own to tackle.  50 minutes.
